Morah Shira AbrahamShira Abraham graduated cum laude from the University at Buffalo, earning a BA in both Psychology and Early Childhood Development, with a minor in Counseling. During her senior year of college, Morah Shira student taught at The University at Buffalo Childcare Center for Preschool Students (3-5). The preschool, similar to Gan Aliya, encompasses mixed-age preschool classrooms and uses an integrated approach that focuses on the whole child. After experiencing this approach, her curiosity on Montessori grew.
Morah Shira grew up in Oyster Bay Cove, NY as one of nine children. Growing up in a large family, she became interested in the Multiple Intelligence theory behind Rabbi Rietti's Al Pi Darko method used at Gan Aliya. As one of the few Jewish teens in her community, Shira teamed up with Rebbetzin Devorah Brownstein at the Chabad of Oyster Bay and Jericho to create the Jewish Teen Club, which offered weekly Torah classes and chessed initiatives to High School students. In addition, Morah Shira attended AMI's Primary Montessori Assistant Training Course this summer and feels enthusiastic about becoming a Montessori teacher at Gan Aliya. |
